  • Scrapbooking - Learning the proper way to scrapbook

    Scrapbooking Kits

We live in a world of abundance. We all have redundantproduct, too many distractions, unmeasurablephotos, too many ideas... and a lot of it is free or close to it! We can lose our will to scrapbook when we stock upand are faced with stacks of pictures, amassmentof paper and other products, and just have no idea where to jump-off.

Scraplifting -- using inspiration from other people's pages and method-- can help you overcome many of the causes of scrapper's block, including overwhelm, distraction, perfectionism. Here are some ways to help you stop shilly-shallyand get scrapping.

    1. If you suffer from OVERWHELM/PERFECTIONISM... tell yourself you've got three minutes to find a layout to lift. Flip through a scrapbooking journal or browse an online gallery and find inspiration there. Then use that layout as a jumping off point for your own conception, or copy it element-by-element. Remember, it's for your personal scrapbook.

    2. If you suffer from DISTRACTION... don't search online! The internet is a black hole that can suck you in and keep you there. I keep a binder full of ideas for pages, torn from booklet, so I can't get distracted by checking links or going on an limitless rabbit trail. Or limit yourself to ONE gallery, or ONE PAGE in ONE GALLERY, to find the layout you like. And promise yourself that you won't follow any links until you finish your page!

    3. If you have lost your scrapbooking mojo... GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! If you truly don't feel like scrapbooking, give yourself a break! Scrapbooking isn't a life sentence. It should be amusing and enjoyable. But at times we all just need to get away and take a break so we can return with new energy and perspective.
